Once all the necessary teckie theory is covered, then it’s time to launch into the process of taking pictures. In this relaxed classroom/living room format you’ll learn about exposure, focus and composition. How and when to use flash. Lens focal lengths, which lens to use and depth of field. And, if time permits, the last segment of the seminar is devoted to the magic of the digital darkroom. Melbourne will demonstrate how to make quick and easy improvements to your images using Adobe Photoshop software. Watch over his shoulder as he shows you how to make manipulations such as: Brightening, adding or lowering contrast, using the Histogram with Levels and Curves. Making Black and White conversions. Quick portrait fixes on eyes, teeth, skin, and hair. Colour correcting. Using sharpening. Correcting converging verticals. Improving landscapes. Replacing skies. Adding impact.
Part 1 “Getting The Best From Your Digital Camera” is the gateway to the Part 2 Hands-On Workshop.
Many attendees questions include: What settings should I set my camera to capture fast moving sports? What ISO should I use when photographing at night? I never capture stunning sunrises and sunsets. What am I doing wrong? What’s the best way to shoot portraits? Why don’t I get lovely deep blue skies when shooting landscapes? My company asks me to shoot events and my photos are always dark….Help! Tell me how to set the camera when shooting market and street scenes? My close-ups of flowers are always blurry. Why? How can I be more creative? What should I look for? I’m still confused about what lens or zoom to use? How do I decide? Any many, many more…………
Part 2 Beginner Seminar: 1 Day NEXT AVAILABLE DATE: SUNDAY 26TH APRIL 2009
IDR 800,000 includes refreshments and lunch. See end of document for more information regarding registration and location. Limited to 12 participants
Melbourne’s Advice: Start with Part 1 “Getting The Best From Your Digital Camera” seminar (above). Then enroll in Part 2 “Beginner” and become familiar with your cameras features and controls by carrying out hands-on practical assignments under Melbourne’s guidance.
Part 2 BEGINNER SEMINAR SUMMARY The seminar is hands-on practical.
This is an action-packed day. You start at 9.00am and will hardly rest until we wrap up between 4.30 and 5.00pm. Who said photography is easy???? (Refreshments are available throughout the day…you won’t starve! Lunch is great too….but you only have 40 minutes!) Melbourne will demonstrate a series of assignments and then you work in small groups to work through each assignment. All assignments are fast and easy to complete and Melbourne will be on hand to answer questions and give guidance. This is the opportunity to shoot and make mistakes. The more mistakes we make, the faster we learn. The purpose of each exercise is not for participants to create a masterpiece…far from it….the object is for each participant to have the experience of shooting different zoom focal lengths, exposures, focus modes, white balances and ISO’s in a typical picture taking environment, with his/her own camera. Suddenly aperture, shutter speeds and depth of field will make sense. Infinitely better (and more fun!), than just reading dozens of books. Your experiences from these assignments will aid you later when you are out and about on your own, shooting landscapes, portraits using window light and fill flash, sharp foreground blurred background. Street photography and market scenes, still life, food, macro, sports and action etc. You are not competing with any one else, the sole purpose is to aid you in exploring the features of your camera while taking everyday photographs. Everything you need to know to gain the confidence to take your photography to the next level. When you have completed this seminar, it’s unlikely you will use “AUTO EVERYTHING” mode ever again and you will be making all the decisions on how you want your images to appear. At the end of the day you will have fast tracked your way through many of your cameras controls and features and will be ready to go out and shoot, shoot, shoot. So what do you think? Do you want to make a remarkable improvement to your photography by investing time with one of south-east Asia’s most experienced photographers?
.
QUESTIONS ARE ENCOURAGED IN ALL SEMINARS……THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A SILLY QUESTION!
.
Photoshop Courses
Capturing images with a digital camera is fun, but it is only the first step in producing beautiful and creative photography. Photoshop is the undisputed leader in photo-editing software and as a photographer, when you arm yourself with knowledge of this powerful program you will be able to transform your images into memorable photographs that you or your friends will be pleased to hang on their walls as a piece of photo décor.
Melbourne has been a photographer for over 30 years and has photographed assignments all over the world. He started working with Photoshop in 1993 using Photoshop version 4. He understands that Photoshop can appear to be overwhelming when you are starting out, so he developed two one-day courses that will guide you through the program at an easy pace.
.
The first Photoshop seminar is titled Session A “Introduction to Photoshop for Photographers”.
Aimed at those who have not fully immersed themselves in the wonders of Photoshop. Maybe you have Photoshop installed but have only played around with a few of the tools and are not sure of why certain things happen one time, and don’t happen another time! The 7 hours you invest in this seminar will save you hundreds of hours wading through instruction manuals!
In this one-day seminar you will learn all about the major tools and features of the program as Melbourne carries out an A to Z tour of the program. A comprehensive set of notes is included in the package.
By the time you have completed the seminar you will have experienced a thorough overview of the program and not once will you have had to refer to an 800 page manual. You will then be equipped to practice at home and will no longer have apprehensions about the program.
